Human Resource Department: How important is it?

Do we really know what Human Resources are? 

Usually when people get called up to the HR Department they think they are in trouble. In most cases HR employees have questions that are best answered face to face. For example when an employee has questions about their benefits package, they can go to the Department of Human Resources to truly learn what they're covered for and what the best package for them is.
