The Best and Worst

The Human Resource Department is where careers begin and unfortunately end. When applying for a job, in most cases your application goes through the HR Department. This is to "pre-screen" applicants as to weed out ill suited candidates. When hired, new employees fill out immense quantities of paperwork, all handled by HR. These forms range from I-9's, which are forms from the government describing your eligibility to work, to MVR's, which is your driving history and is used to determine if you can operate company vehicles. Once all forms are filled out and you complete the training step, you are considered a new employee and can begin work!

The worst part about the Department of Human Resources is handling terminations. While some may be due to seasonal jobs or a "lack of available work", no one likes dealing with them. Employees in the HR office hate to fire someone just as much as that person hates being fired. In some cases there is serious issues which call for termination, but for the most part the relationship between an employee and the Department remains friendly and healthy.
